Music is the art of expressing emotions and feelings through significant forms, such as rhythms and melodies. Music can be classified into various categories, namely: gospel music, rap music, rhythm-and-blues music, reggae music, etc. In order to determine the winners or top performing artists in any of these categories, voting is required. The voting process can take various forms, from the local level, to the national or regional level.
Composition of Judges’ Panels
After a judges’ panel has been constituted, rules and terms of engagement are formulated for the entire activity, replete with formal guidelines that must be adhered to during the process of voting by the audience.
Working Team and Terms of Engagement
After the formulation of the terms of engagement, the judges then put in place a team of liaison persons who will act as a secretariat in case any clarification is required on any issue. Through the set secretariat, the judges and working team, who include professionals such as producers, sound engineers, and experienced vocalists, set the ball rolling for the voting process to begin.
Advertising the Voting Activity
Firstly, the music competition should be advertised in print, electronic media, and on the internet. Print media includes local dailies and magazines with large readers’ bases. Electronic media comprises television stations and radio stations with sizeable market shares of the airwaves. After the advertisement has been placed with respective forms of media, and all the terms and conditions of the voting process spelt out, the voting process begins.
Voting and Awarding
The audience in the voting process must strictly adhere to the stipulated guidelines; otherwise, their votes might be invalidated. The voting process continues until the final closing date, when the votes are counted and the winners are declared. The winners are awarded by the sponsors of the event.
